Snowcapped mountains, train tracks and a panoramic Baluchistan. The new trailer of Moor is all about visual designs.
"
یے وطن سے محبت، پیار ویار، پڑهنے میں تو بحت اچها لگتا ہے. پر ملتا کچه نہیں ہے
"
“Ye Watan se muhabat, pyar wyar,
parhnay mein to buhat acha lagta hai. Par milta kuch nahin hai. ”
Snobby men
in suits, urban backdrops and wide closed-up dialogue scenes. We experienced this
modern/ post-modern style of film-making in Bilal Lashari’s Waar, highest
grossing Pakistani film of all time, followed by Yasir Jaswals thriller
Jalaibee. But, Quid pro Quo. Both Waar and Jalaibee felt a little short of
perfection. The directors had to sacrifice story and acting, respectively, to accommodate
the amazing cinematography and visuals. However this Independence Day we will
be experiencing similar cinematic visuals in Jami’s drama film Moor.
Jami who has
previously directed Operation O21 started working on Moor in 2007 and it took
almost 6 years for the first trailer to come out. The film, which was
shot in remote areas of Baluchistan and urban settings like Karachi, covers
several different pages of history especially the closure of Zhob Valley in
1984. It stars Hammed Sheikh (Operation O21), Samiya Mumtaz, Abdul Qadir who
hails from Quetta, and Ayaz Samoo as the villain. Hammed Sheikh, who describes
the role as “genuinely challenging”, and Samiya Mumtaz have been always been critic’s
favorite so you should expect some acting treat adorned by the panoramic depiction
of Baluchistan.
The film is
set to feature lyrics of Pakistani Legend Anwar Maqsood and music by Strings
who have previously composed the theme for My Name is Khan and are currently creating
music for Coke Studio. While there is still some time before the music comes
out watch these two trailers to get a glimpses of Bilal Maqsood and Faisal
Kapadia (Strings) composition.
I know the trailers have kept you wanting for more so do not miss an opportunity to catch a show in a cinema near you this Independence Day, 14th August 2015.
