When AMC renewed its
highly-rated rarely-watched, 80s’ period drama Halt and Catch Fire for a second
season it came out as a surprise to everyone. However did you know that
particular decision by AMC is in itself a reason why you should start watching
the show?
AMC doesn’t quit.

The cancellation
of Bryan Fuller’s critics’ favorite Hannibal during its third season was expected
by even some cult fans of the show because despite its masterfully scripted pieces
the show failed to garner enough viewers. However AMC has the history of
investing time in its adventures. The Lee Pace starrer ‘Halt’ is running the
same road as Mad Men and Breaking Bad. There is no doubt that the show has long
way to go before it can be compared to the likes of Mad Men and Breaking Bad
but the good news here is that AMC is giving it enough to time to cover that
distance.
So if you have
been a big fan of Don Drapper than its time you tie yourself with the story of
Joe McMillan.
It is wonderfully coded.
Christopher
Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers have created an intricate yet comprehensible
depiction of characters from the tech valley of 80s’ Dallas. The good thing
about the show is the understanding between the script and the charters. The
first season started with Joe McMillan tied with the corporate ventures of IBM
and Cardiff while Cameroon (Mackenzie Davis) as a young code junkie in search
of (to be honest) something. However. This year we have
Cameroon struggling with her new startup Mutiny and Joe in search of, well, ‘something’.
‘Halt’ has over the
course of 16 episodes developed itself into a kind of period drama that you
have been trying hard to ignore but it is almost that time when you will not be
able to do that anymore.
